Bhumihars are a Hindu caste mainly found in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Nepal. Bhumihars are also known as Bhumihar Brahmin. In Bihar, Bhumihar is also called Babhan or Bhuinhar.

Until the 20th Century, Bhumihars were a land-owning community who had nine small princely states and zamindari estates. Bhumihars also played important role in peasant movements of India.

Realistic Pencil Drawing of of Man face 

This is a pencil sketch portrait of Shri Shinde who retired / superannuated from the office of the accountant general / Ag office/ cag mumbai which is at pratistha bhawan, marine lines mumbai. He requested me to draw a pencil Portrait for him.  I accepted his request and made this pencil drawing portrait for him from his photo that I had taken with my phone.

I signed, got it laminated and gave it to him on the day of his retirement as a farewell gift from me. I hope he will keep this artwork safe and remember Akshay Kumar whenever he sees it.

Now, How I sketched this man face step by step

I draw free hand sketches. I do not use grid or any other tricks to draw portraits from photos. I started from the nose and then the whole face. The reason for starting from the nose is that it becomes the center of the portraits which help me in measuring the distance of and drawing other facial parts.

 Hb pencil for shading the skin of man's face.

6b pencil for darker areas like hair etc.

Black colour pencil for the darkest areas like drawing the eyes, drawing mustache, the corner of hair etc

Cotton for blending the graphite.

Eraser for giving a shining illusion on head and cheeks.

This pencil sketch portrait was requested by Binit Kumar Roy on my Facebook profile in 2014. The reference picture was the profile photo of Binit Kumar Roy. It had taken 4 hours for me to be draw.  this sketch from photo. Much time was consumed in giving a realistic look to the sketch. Especially drawing the goggles and the reflection was not easy for a newbie like me. But somehow it came out good. 

This pencil drawing was made only using a simple HB pencil and an A4 Drawing sheet.

Again I had the opportunity to visit Jodhpur, Rajasthan the top tourist place in the world and also the best location for shooting bollywood and hollywood films.
On this short trip to Jodhpur I gifted the original pencil drawing portrait of Shri Ajay Kumar to himself that I had drawn in 2014 using the reference picture I was provided with. I was also asked by him to draw a portrait of someone very special to him. I will upload and share that drawing portrait also once its completed.

Now let me tell you something about the making of this pencil sketch. Actually I had started drawing portaits in 2014 itself and I was not much aware of the type of papers and pencils artists use to draw. So, I took a white paper and an HB pencil and started drawing the face. But I was not able to draw the white beard and mustache. Why ? because I was searching for a white pencil to draw on a white paper. But I found a way. I shaded the whole paper including the face and external area and erased the area that required to be white. Funny ? it is.

Why buy art from an artist instead of getting it free from sketching apps ?

These days we see many applications and websites that claims to make pencil sketches from your photographs within a few minutes or seconds. If you search in Search Engines you will find these sketch apps on the top of the first page. These sketching software simply make the photographs, submitted by the users, look like a pencil sketch. These machine made sketches can then be printed on a paper with the help of a printer. People interested in getting their photograph sketched, but for free, are using these software, But do you think these are really a pencil sketch and an art ? I don't think so. These sketches made with an app can not be called an art.

Recently I came across a guy's comment on an artist's post on a Social Networking Website. The artist had posted a colour pencil portrait along with the price. The guy commented  ''Why should we pay 3500 for a pencil sketch when there are so many apps to get the sketch for free?" There will be many people like him who thinks the same thing. 

So the question is, "If these applications make a sketch similar to a handmade sketch for free then why buy original art from an artist?"

And the answer is :-

• Handmade original pencil drawing or pencil sketches are made after hours or sometimes days of hard work by the artist.
• Original drawings can be bought as an asset which will appraise itself over time. By buying an original artwork you are not only supporting an artist financially but also supporting yourself by accumulating an asset that is to increase its value with the increase in the artist's value. 

Take an example: Suppose there are two guys who wanted to get themselves sketched. One guy approached an artist and the other guy used an app. The first guy paid for the art whereas the second guy got it for free. They both kept their sketches for years. In the meantime the artist who had drawn the first guy's sketch becomes very famous and his artworks have become very expensive. This increase market value of the artist will increase the old works of the artist also and the price of the first guys sketch will also increase.

• Possessing or collecting artworks from famous artists is a status symbol as not everyone can afford to buy their artworks.

Its up to the people to decide what they want.

I drew this Pencil Sketch on the request of my colleague and friend Shri Lavenesh Kumar Sharma who is  from Bhajanpura, New Delhi / AG office Mumbai about 8 months ago. It is made with HB and 6B pencils on a simple drawing paper. 

I had shared this sketch with him on facebook and whatsapp to know if he liked it or not. I will soon be sharing the Image where I am giving the original Sketch to Lavenesh Sharma.

I was requested to draw this beautiful girl face drawing sketch from the photo by her mother Smt Geeta Kotian from AG office, Mumbai. Though the reference image was not clear and in high resolution, I tried my best to make it look realistic. It took me 4-5 hours to draw this. To draw this beautiful Indian girl face drawing I used 6B and HB graphite pencils for shading. Black colour Pencil for some parts of hair and eyes and little red colour pencil for lips.
